Bogota, the capital of the Republic of Colombia, with an average temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, which can range between 9 and 22 degrees Celsius, is called the South American Athens. Bogota has been ranked as one of the main business centers in Latin America, along with São Paulo, Miami, Santiago, Mexico City and Buenos Aires. According to the latest annual ranking of the magazine América Economía (2012), the capital of the Republic ranks eighth among the best cities for doing business in Latin America.

A proof of this is the significant Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) enjoyed by the city. In recent years, Bogota has received large amounts of FDI, especially in greenfield projects, mergers and acquisitions. In fact, if oil and investment in portfolio is excluded, Bogota attracts 78% of all FDI coming to Colombia, which has established itself as one of the best cities to invest in Latin America.

Being a one of the best cities for doing business means that Bogotá offers great investment opportunities. In fact, there are now more than 1,423 multinational corporations settled down in the capital.

The city is also well known for its tax culture and how easy it is to acquire property, create business and in dealing with construction permits, which permitted Bogota to achieve in August 2013, Bogotá the description by the World Bank as the third best city in the country to do business in.
